Digital Media VIP Advisory Board
We have the Digital Media VIP Group on Facebook nearing 300. This is not the only list and only community of Digital Media VIP Executives but a good place for 300 of us to gather as a subsegment who use Facebook.
I've started up the youth/young adult advisory board to our group with 4 outstanding Baylor students and a 15 year old interested in a career in communications. I'll be seeking other students/young adults with an interest in the future of digital media. One of the Baylor students has already appeared on Oprah Winfrey winning her dream of going to Baylor. The others are absolutely astonishing too!
I can't thank Steve enough at Microsoft Silverlight for his contribution of the Wynn Suite and refreshments for our gathering at the NAB. He's on the Facebook group. Mark was also a great support!
I also wanted to thank Roger Dean for his continuing efforts despite his busy schedule.
We have some new advisors/connectors from around the world and as they join the Facebook Group, you'll see their names listed under the right hand officials section. Brian Parson from Clear Channel agreed to help us out so you'll see his name around and about as a connector advisor.
It's summertime and I'm planning a dc based brainstorm meeting, and if you'd like to come in for this, let me know.
Have a great summer and
See You on the Net!
PS I can post to the NAB blog as one of their official writers - so keep me informed.

I'm also looking for any of you as friends at Facebook. We do have a linkedin.com graphic and group, but as you know linkedin.com does not as yet support group activities and provide associated applications like that of Facebook. A couple of people have opposed Facebook due to its privacy policies. I have a ning group and other community options, but not sure how to please everyone. I've looking at how to keep everyone informed as THEY would like to be, versus forcing someone to join a network or community to connect with us.

Digital Media VIP on Facebook and also on Linkedin.com

As many of you know - 200 plus of us have gathered on a group at Facebook called Digital Media VIP. That's a MicroGroup and doesn't include other members who have attended events are part of the group, etc. Sign into Facebook - go to the groups on the left or search for digital media vip. Add yourself to the group. For some reason, I have a fan page for the Digital Media VIP Group on Facebook. That's not a neccesity, but I'll post news on the fan page as well as the group. The group will have the information not for the public.
A big thanks to our find friends at Microsoft Silverlight for the gracious Microsoft Wynn Suite at NAB complete with beverages and food for our get together! Thanks Steve! He said he'd be glad to do these at other events, and well, that's great news of a fellow member. Our members do meet the Microsoft profile, so hopefully, it's a win-win for all digital media executives. Tom - the captain also welcomes us to his yacht club for another event.
For those members who are not on Facebook Group, by request, I've added a group under linkedin.com. You can go to my profile and click to join. Alternatively, you can click on the logo of any other member. The point to this is to be where you are not force you to join a mailing list or another social network. This group will simply inform of get togethers. I put it up yesterday so without promotion there's a handful. It's a convenience factor, but linkedin.com has its growing pains with groups.
Linkedin.com has limited support for groups and says they are working on their directory. Click to my linked in entry and click on the logo of the group on the bottom of my page if you can't find it by search.
There are also a few other groups of members on specific social networks. If you are on a social network other than these two, let me know - we may already have a group there. Otherwise, I can put up a page for your convenience. I'm not a fan of forcing people to be part of this social network or that social network, the goal again is to communicate with our executives where they are, that is convenient to them.
See you on the Net!

Digital Media VIP Facebook Group Digital Media VIP
Thanks to all the wonderful participants and presenters at the last Digital Media VIP event!
Roger and I posted some photos from the event on the Facebook group called Digital Media VIP - see you there - sign into facebook.com and under the search key in digital media vip, and select join group - viola. Why not tag your own name if we haven't identified you yet?
<--The enthusiastic guy to the left is Eric Manchester from Time Warner Cable , next is Skip Pizzi from Microsoft and Lisa Amore from AmorePR, she used to work for RealNetworks and you may remember her from there.
They are smiling because they are part of the winning team of the best one hour business plan and 2 minute elevator pitch. I'ts our lunch mashup so to speak. I'll add the rest of the team when I get the photo, or Roger may post it if he has it handy. It will go on the website too.
I think this team may have had an unfair advantage since they had two expert leaders at their table rather than one, but that's how the cookie crumbles. I had to throw in that disclaimer because the other two groups were great, and Tom DesJardines put together a full ppt deck for the new business during lunch. I'm kidding, for those that don't know me.
This was part of our lunch teamwork. It's also a great way to get to know new people at a table since we mix everyone up. Tom wanted to get his business plan created and funded during lunch to come back and say that on the elevator pitch. Almost.
Eric.....Ahem, I was sitting on the timewarnercable.com website and I now know that I have to watch out for your tricky marketing folks. Upon arrival or after a few seconds, you have a video come up on homepage of course with audio. I muted the sound on the home page....then about 3 or 4 minutes later another interlude comes up and viola - sound again. (Didn't I just mute that?) I don't know whether to compliment you on the advertising technique or complain! It forced me to go back to your homepage since I was then looking at another website and had to tab back so you had me back on your website for at least a few other seconds. But, are there metrics that tell you which tab I was looking at for how long?
Jim Long from NBC also posted some pictures on Facebook from the event. Eric, there's a task for you with your name on it on the Facebook Group Digital Media VIP.
See you on the Net!
